About Praying in Tongues FAQ
This is an email sent to be by a young Christian, and I inserted it here on this page to help others, who have the same question.
Question: Hi there, I'm a new christian who happened to found your website, and Ifind that it is very interesting. I came to read about your prayer tongue and I would like to ask you how will someone receive his/her prayer tongue??? I'm now in a position like you, when you first became interested about praying in tongues. Can you help me out? How long did it take you to receive your tongue? Must I ask my pastor to pray for me in order to pray in tongue? I asked my aunt and she told me to roll my tongue randomly whenever I pray, but my friend told me that I might be praying in Satan's tongue. In that I stopped it for now, and am consulting you. By the way I'm Christopher from Penang.(malaysia)
Answer: Hi Christopher, thanks for writing. To receive your prayer tongue you must first receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Yes, having your pastor pray and lay hands on you is a good idea, or even your aunt, if she is born again and spirit filled. The person that prays for you must also have their prayer tongue. Have you heard people pray in tongues? Any of these people can pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of your own prayer tongue.
If someone has already prayed with you to receive, then you have it. When you go to your private time with God, and praise and worship God, then you can open your mouth and speak syllables. Then the Holy Spirit will teach you your prayer tongue. Did you learn your native language in one day? No! Your prayer tongue will start as a repeating syllable and then expand to new syllables. You will know it is the Holy Spirit! You must believe by faith that you have received!
Satan does not have a prayer tongue, and if your mind is telling you it is of the devil, then it is lying to you, because your prayer tongue gives you power over the devil, and he wants to make you believe you did not receive it. The devil works through our thoughts. He inserts that thought that you have not received into your mind, that you are just making this all up. Are you going to believe him? I suggest that you do not!
I would recommend that you choose a prayer on my prayer scripture pages and practice praying in tongues. For instance, read one scripture, then speak a few syllables, read the next scripture and speak more syllables, read the next scripture and speak more syllables. Continue doing this and your prayer tongue will begin to flow. Of course your mind will tell you it sounds stupid, but the things of God are not the same as the things of men. His ways are not our ways.
Receiving your prayer tongue always starts with a desire. The Holy Spirit has put this desire in you. He will give you the desires of your heart! : ) The Holy Spirit will pray through you, but He has to use your vocal chords!
Having your own prayer tongue puts you in a position of becoming a "prayer warrior" and an "intercessor." The devil does not want you making him as a doormat under your feet! And this is what having your own prayer tongue does! The battle is in overcoming what your mind is telling you.
